RYRIE RESERVE

Public BBQ

Ryrie Reserve in Como embodies the unpretentious charm of Australian neighbourhood parks. This green space along Ryrie Avenue combines a proper sports field, children's playground, and basketball court with refreshing simplicity. Families arrive with picnic baskets and bicycles, children befriend strangers within minutes, and dogs enjoy excellent social opportunities. The pleasant birdlife provides natural entertainment, though visitors should note the absence of public toilets, rather pressing during longer stays. Recent renovations have improved irrigation and landscaping with admirable practicality. The park truly shines during community events like "Sounds in the Park" concerts, when neighbours remember they're actually a community. Nothing revolutionary here, just a well-conceived bit of green space doing exactly what parks should do,bringing people together without fuss or fanfare in that distinctly Australian way.
